Site Name HistoryThe site is named after the family who owned the land, including Francis Foxcroft, who participated in, benefited from, and supported the practice of human enslavement.Historical NotesFoxcroft House was constructed in 1822 and acquired at its original address at 17 Kirkland Street by Harvard in 1889. It was moved to 8 Oxford Street to make room for Lowell Lecture Hall. It was ultimately demolished in 1926 in preparation for the construction of Mallinckrodt Chemistry Laboratory.
