Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its function.Historical NotesThe Center for Hellenic Studies was built with a $5 million grant from the Old Dominion Foundation and a gift of land from Harriet Blaine Beale given in memory of her son, Walker Blaine Beale '17. The center, located in Washington, DC is a research institute for the classics and was dedicated in May, 1963.
