Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its address.Historical Notes101 Plympton Street was built as a three-story, wood frame house in 1870 by Michael E. Sullivan as workers' housing. Originally, a second building called 103 Plympton, constructed in 1858, had been on the lot. This building was subsequently moved to Mill Street and in the early twentieth century another two-story building was built in the rear of the lot. Both buildings were acquired by Harvard in 1978. The rear building was razed in 1983.

Today it is part of Winthrop House, one of Harvard's twelve undergraduate residential communities. In 2016 it was completely renovated as a part of the Riverhouse Renewal program.
