Site Name HistoryThe site is named for Francis A. Countway, head of the Cambridge (Massachusetts) based U.S. operations of British soap and detergent maker Lever Brothers from 1912 to 1946, following a gift from Sanda Countway, his sister.Historical NotesThe Countway Library of Medicine was designed by noted Cambridge architect Hugh Stubbins and opened in 1964.
