Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its function and address.Historical Notes38 Oxford Street was designed by the Boston-based engineering firm of Charles T. Main and built for Harvard in 1959 as the Cambridge Electron Accelerator. It served as a research facility on the field of high energy physics until 1974.

In 1968, an addition was constructed to the south side. In 2017, an array of solar photovoltaic panels were added to the roof.
