Site Name HistoryThe site was named after its architect, Richard Morris Hunt (LL.D. 1892) in 1935. Previously named the Fogg Art Museum, the name changed to Hunt Hall to avoid confusion with the new Fogg Art Museum that was later built on Quincy Street. Historical NotesHunt Hall was built in 1895 to house the Fogg Art Museum as a gift from Elizabeth Fogg in memory of her husband, William Hayes. The building was considered a failure and criticized by the first faculty to use it. It later housed lecture halls, exhibition rooms and office for the Graduate School of Design. It was demolished in 1973 to make way for Canaday Hall.Additional Information
