Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its function.Historical NotesIn the early twentieth century Harvard adopted a "Prescribed Physical Training" program for all college Freshman. To further that program the Freshman Athletic Building was constructed on the site now known as the MAC quad; on the corner of Holyoke Street and South Street. The Freshman Athletic Building housed basketball, handball, baseball facilities as well as space dedicated to fencing and boxing.Additional Information
