Site Name HistoryThe site is named for Benjamin Bussey (A.B. 1803), a Boston merchant who bequethed funds to Harvard, and for its function.Historical NotesThe Bussey Institute was located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston. It was originally founded as an undergraduate school of husbandry and gardening. The Institute had an ongoing relationship with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and antitoxins were produced at the facility.
