Site Name HistoryThe Class of 1886 Gate was named for the Harvard University Class of 1886 who provided the funds for its construction.Historical NotesThe Class of 1886 Gate was erected in 1901 from funds raised by the Class of 1886. Originally it opened to the entrance of Stoughton Hall but due to the construction of Mower Hall the main entrance to Stoughton Hall was relocated and the Class of 1886 Gate was closed in 1926.
