Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its address on Sumner Road, which is named for William Hyslop Sumner. Sumner was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1780 and later attended Harvard College as the class of 1799. He practiced law and was active in local and state government. His most notable achievement was his involvement in the land planning and development of Noddles Island which became the neighborhood, East Boston.
Historical NotesA two-story house, built in 1853, stood on this parcel. The house was raised in 1964. The building that now sits on this site was moved in 2003 from 96 Prescott Street prior to the construction of CGIS South. The building was sold in 2009.Additional Information
