Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its address.Historical NotesThe Fogg Art Museum, constructed in 1927, was designed as a joint teaching facility and art museum, the first built structure for training art scholars, museum professionals and conservators.

In 1932, the Naumburg Room was added, followed by a library expansion in 1967, and in 1992, the addition of Werner Otto Hall. All three additions were later demolished.

In 2008 the Fogg underwent a six year renovation project designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The design preserved the museum's original facility while expanding space for classrooms, gallery space and conservation labs. A project in 2014 updated heating and cooling systems, expanding exhibition space.

The museum's central atrium is called the Calderwood Courtyard.

The museum houses Harvard's Fogg, Sackler, and Busch-Reisinger art collections.
