Site Name HistoryThe site is named for James Greenleaf, a cotton merchant who had the house built in the 1850s, and his wife Mary Longfellow Greenleaf (1816-1902), sister of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.Historical NotesGreenleaf House was built as a private residence in 1859, and purchased by Radcliffe College in 1905. Today it houses the Radcliffe dean.
