Site Name HistoryThe site is named for Count Giovanni Auletta Armenise of Italy, a trustee of Harvard Medical School whose uncle launched the first Italian pharmaceutical company to manufacture and distribute penicillin in 1950.Historical NotesArmenise was designed for Harvard Medical School by Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge of Boston and opened in 1906.
