Site Name HistoryThe site is named after Peter L. Malkin (1955), New York real estate investor and Harvard benefactor who donated funds for the renovation in 1986. Prior to the donation, the site was known as the Indoor Athletic Building.Historical NotesMalkin Athletic Center was designed for Harvard by Boston-based Coolidge Shepley Bulfinch and Abbott, who also designed many of the surrounding buildings for the Harvard undergraduate house system. The construction of the building was funded by a combination of funds from Alumni and Harvard Athletic Association funds.
