Site Name HistoryThe site is named after James Richard Jewett (1884, A.B.), a professor of Semitic Languages and the original owner of the house.Historical NotesJewett House was designed by the Boston firm Derby and Robinson and completed in 1913 as a private residence for James R. Jewett. The house was acquired by Harvard in 1946, and has served as the Harvard Divinity School's Dean's Residence since at least 1955.
