Site Name HistoryThe site is named after the descendants of Michael Wigglesworth, a Puritan minister who attended Harvard College. His son, Edward Wigglesworth (A.B. 1710) was the first Hollis Professor of Divinity at Harvard and his grandson Edward Wigglesworth (A.B. 1749) was elected second Hollis Professor of Divinity on the death of his father in 1765.Historical NotesFunded primarily by Edward Stephen Harkness. It was partially built on the site of the house owned by Edward Wigglesworth (A.B. 1710) and his son Edward Wigglesworth (A.B. 1749). Previous owners of the property include the area's first minister, Thomas Hooker, Thomas Shepard, a member of Harvard's first Board of Overseers and Harvard president, John Leverett (A.B. 1680)Additional Information
