Site Name HistoryThe site is named after Josiah Quincy III (1772-1864), who was President of Harvard from 1829 to 1845. The site is also named after its function.Historical NotesThe New Quincy House residence hall opened for students in the autumn of 1959. The building, which was a modern approach addition to the neo-Georgian Riverhouses, was designed and constructed by the same firm who started the complex in the early 1900s. New Quincy featured a skip-stop internal arrangement which results in a three-floor "sandwich", with the shared living rooms in the middle and bedrooms on the above and below floors.

The Quincy House Faculty Dean residence is located on the top level of the building.
