Site Name HistoryThis site is named for someone who participated in, benefited from, and supported the practice of human enslavement. Increase Mather (1639-1723), was a Puritan minister who was influential in the political life of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and who served as president of Harvard College from 1692 to 1701.Historical NotesMather House opened in 1970 as Harvard's twelfth residential house.
