Site Name HistoryThe site is named after its function.Historical NotesThe Engineering Science Laboratory was designed for Harvard by noted Michigan-based architect Minoru Yamasaki and opened in 1963. More than half of the funds for construction were supplied by Harvard, while the remaining funds were through a grant from the National Science Foundation and from other sources outside the University.
