Site Name HistoryThe site is named after George Alexander McKinlock Jr. (A.B. 1916) who was killed in 1918 during World War I. McKinlock's parents donated the money for its construction. Edward Stephen Harkness provided the funds for the building renovation in 1931.Historical NotesMcKinlock Hall, originally built as a dormitory for freshmen, was designed by Boston-based Coolidge Shepley Bulfinch and Abbott and opened in 1926. In 1931 it was renovated and incorporated into Leverett House, one of Harvard's twelve undergraduate residential communities.
