Site Name HistoryThe site is named for Arthur Lehman (A.B. 1894), Harvard benefactor and partner in Lehman Brothers, the New York investment firm.Historical NotesLehman Hall was built for Harvard in 1925, designed by Coolidge Shepley Bulfinch and Abbott. It originally served as Harvard's business office. By 1991, Lehamn Hall housed both the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Dudley House, which had previously been located on the block occupied by the Smith Campus Center.
In 2019, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Dudley House split becoming distinct entities once again. Lehman Hall now hosts The Student Center at Harvard Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS).
Lehman Hall sits on the site formerly occupied by Dane Hall, the first home of Harvard Law School, which was razed in 1918 after a fire.
